Rebranding Apex: How I Built a High-Conversion Engine for an E-Com Brand
The Pitch
Apex Goods makes incredible gear, but their online presence looked like a generic Amazon storefront. I spent 6 weeks completely rebuilding their visual identity from scratch and turning their website into a premium digital experience. The result? A 34% bump in conversions within two months.
Role: Brand Strategy, Identity Design, Web UX, Framer Development
Timeline: 6 Weeks
Stack: Figma, Framer
The Problem: Premium Product, Cheap Identity
When the founder of Apex reached out, they had a specific bottleneck. They were spending a ton on ads and getting plenty of traffic, but their bounce rate was brutal.
Their branding was messy—cheap neon colors, three different font families fighting for attention, and a template-heavy store layout. They didn’t have a product problem; they had a credibility problem. My job was to design an identity that matched the premium quality of their physical goods and build a site that made buying effortless.
My Process: The Brand Overhaul
I wanted an identity that felt rugged but highly sophisticated. I stripped away the clutter and anchored the brand in a minimalist, intentional system.
1. Logo & Identity
The original logo didn't scale well. I designed a clean, geometric interlocking "A" monogram. It’s structural enough to be stamped cleanly onto stainless steel hardware, yet precise enough to look sharp as a tiny 16px mobile favicon.
2. Typography & Color
Palette: Swapped the bright neons for Matte Olive, Charcoal, and an off-white cream. It instantly gave the brand an editorial, high-end feel.
Type Scale: I chose a bold, heavy sans-serif for headers to anchor the page, paired with a highly legible geometric sans for the product details.
Re-Engineering the Web Experience in Framer
A beautiful brand is useless if the website is a pain to navigate. Since 80% of their audience shops on their phones, I designed the layout mobile-first in Figma, then brought it to life natively in Framer.
Fixing the Mobile Friction: I completely re-architected their product filter system. Instead of clunky dropdowns that break on mobile, I designed sticky, thumb-friendly navigation that lets users filter sizes and checkout in three taps.
Speed Over Flash: I kept scroll animations highly functional rather than purely decorative. I used Framer’s native image optimization to ensure heavy product photography loaded instantly, even on weak cellular data.
The Payoff
For me, a design is only successful if it moves the needle for the client. Here is how the new identity performed 60 days post-launch:
Conversion Rate: Jumped from 1.8% to 2.4%
Average Order Value: Increased by 35% (thanks to a redesigned, intuitive upsell flow at checkout)
Mobile Bounce Rate: Dropped by 21%
"We knew our old site was holding us back, but we didn't realize how much revenue we were leaving on the table. The new branding instantly elevated our business." — Founder, Apex Goods
The Takeaway
This project proved exactly why I love what I do. Good design isn't just about making things look pretty; it's about studying user behavior, stripping away the friction, and building an identity that earns trust instantly.
